Mr. Katsaniotis pointed out that “what is important, is the management of the help that the world has given». “The public opinion of Greece responded, the public opinion of Turkey embraced the Greek mission from the first moment and really if we see on social media the response that the bill for aid to Turkey has, from Turkish citizens, it is really moving“, concluded.

On his part, Mr regional governor of Western Greece, Nektarios Farmakisin statements he made at the port of Patras, underlined: “It is very important that, as a Region, as a Local Government as a whole, we supported the initiative of the state and above all we supported the incredible chain of solidarity and the wave of support from the Greek society. There had to be coordination and this coordination was done with the Greek state taking the lead, of course, but we, the bodies of the Local Government, are helping with all our powers, so that this act of solidarity has the maximum possible effect. Local Government is one of the biggest links of social cohesion and of course a part of Greek diplomacy».
