The US Federal Police (F.B.I) is investigating a breach of its computer network, an incident considered isolated and now addressed, the agency said today.
“The FBI is aware of the incident and is working to obtain additional information” says the announcement sent to the agency Reuterswithout further clarification.
The American television network CNNwhich first reported the news citing sources briefed on the incident, said FBI officials believed it involved computers at the agency’s New York offices that were being used in the investigation of cases of sexual exploitation of children.
It is currently unclear when the breach occurred.
A source told CNN that her origin is still being investigated.
In the last decade there have been several cyberattacks on American services.
