Russia’s Defense Ministry in its statement claims that radioactive substances have been transferred to Ukraine from a European country and that Kiev is preparing a large-scale “provocation”
International concern provoke today’s reports from Moscow. The Kremlin claimed on Sunday that Ukraine was planning to stage a “nuclear incident” on its soil to blame Russia, ahead of a meeting at the United Nations, without providing evidence for the claim.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia in its announcement supports that radioactive substances have been transferred to Ukraine from a European country and Kiev is preparing a large-scale “provocation”.
“The aim of the provocation is to accuse the Russian military of allegedly launching indiscriminate strikes on nuclear facilities in Ukraine, which leads to the leakage of radioactive material and the contamination of the region,” he added.
“To carry out this provocation, several containers of radioactive substances were delivered from a European country to Ukraine bypassing customs control. These substances appear to be used for local soil contamination near a radioactively hazardous facility which is controlled by Kiev” the statement says.
Since its invasion of Ukraine nearly a year ago, Russia has repeatedly accused Kiev of planning “provocative” actions with unconventional weapons, such as the use of biological or radioactive material. No such attack has materialized.
Ukraine and its allies dismiss these accusations as cynical attempts at disinformation and in turn accuse Moscow of planning such events itself to shift the blame to Kiev.
Beijing is considering providing “weapons” to Russia in order to support her attack on Ukrainewarned in the meantime today the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who met yesterday Saturday with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
