Using the word “operation” to describe the invasion of Ukraine and speaking of “historic events” that will determine Russia’s future, Vladimir Putin is making a historic speech today.

In his speech he focused on placing responsibility for the war on the West while claiming that Kiev was trying to amass biological and nuclear weapons.

In fact, he accused the US and its allies of seeking “unlimited power” in the region, while the West since the 19th century has been trying to separate Russia from its “historical lands that are now called Ukraine.”

– We made every effort to peacefully resolve the problem in the region, but the West withdrew from fundamental agreements, made hypocritical statements and NATO wanted to extend its umbrella and cover us.

– I want to repeat: they are responsible for the war and we use force to stop it

– The West’s commitment to peace turned out to be a “fraud” and a “cruel lie”

– We did everything possible to solve this problem peacefully, we were negotiating a peaceful way out of this difficult conflict, but behind our backs a very different scenario was being prepared.
