Zelensky has traveled abroad only twice since Russia invaded Ukraine nearly a year ago — once to Washington in December and to London, Paris and Brussels in February.
The Vilnius summit on July 11 and 12 will be attended by most NATO leaders, the office of the Lithuanian presidency announced. Among them is US President Joe Biden, who made a surprise visit to Kiev this week.
“These are our plans,” Ambassador Petro Besta said of Zelensky’s visit in an interview with BNS published today.
Ukraine hopes the participants of the summit will agree “in a very clear way that once the war ends, Ukraine will become a member of NATO”, emphasized the ambassador of Kiev in Lithuania.
