Two civilians were killed in Russian shelling in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine, while two others were injured by a missile strike in Kharkiv, in the northeast.

An 81-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man were killed in the shelling of the village of Novotiahinka, which is about 40 kilometers from the city of Kherson, said regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

In addition, two people were slightly injured by rocket strikes at industrial facilities in Kharkiv, according to local officials.

Kharkiv, which is very close to the border with Russia and is Ukraine’s second most populous city, has been frequently targeted by Russian forces since the Russian invasion about a year ago.

Russia had occupied Kherson at the beginning of the war but after eight months of occupation, the Ukrainians recaptured it.

The area is constantly bombarded by the Russian forces deployed on the opposite bank of the Dnieper River.
