Emergency situation was preached in 13 California counties as the state is threatened by another severe storm, according to the BBC.

Rescue crews are constantly working to “dig out” mountain areas that have been covered in snow while an 80-year-old woman died when her porch collapsed due to the heavy snow that had accumulated, US media reported.

The state’s popular Yosemite National Park has been closed indefinitely.

“Park workers are working to restore critical services so guests can return safely,” park officials said.

Record-breaking snowfall forced the park to close last week.

More than 75,000 California residents and businesses were without power Thursday morning, according to the poweroutage.us tracking website.

In San Bernardino County, east of Los Angeles, it is located snow removal in progress, but it could take more than a week for snowplows to reach some areas, Dawn Rowe, chairwoman of the county board of supervisors, told The Associated Press.

In some areas the snow has reached up to 7 feet and authorities have carried out 17 rescue operations to help skiers.

The National Weather Service predicts a slight easing of bad weather in the coming days, but temperatures will remain below average.
