The agenda of Scholz’s visit to the US only includes the meeting with President Biden and the interview he will grant to a CNN reporter
The Chancellor of Germany Olaf Solz left Thursday evening for the United States where tomorrow Friday he will meet the American president Joe Biden at the White House, for talks expected to focus on supporting Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
Surprisingly, as the German News Agency (dpa) points out, not scheduled joint press conference after the meeting of the two leaders, while Chancellor Solz is not accompanied by journalists from Berlin (as is usual on such trips), but neither are businessmen.
Referring to the cooperation between the two governments, Chancellor Soltz noted that there is a frequent exchange of views. But phone calls and teleconferences are not always enough, he underlined, justifying the decision of the two leaders to meet face to face. “This is necessary in a world crisis where many things have become very difficult,” he said before his departure.
The agenda of Soltz’s visit to the US includes; just the meeting with President Biden and the interview he will grant to CNN reporter Fareed Zakaria.
This is the second time that German Chancellor Scholz will cross the threshold of the White House since the beginning of his term, almost 15 months ago. The previous one was at the beginning of last February, with Ukrainian as the dominant theme. In those days tens of thousands of Russian soldiers were deployed on the Ukrainian border and two weeks later the war broke out.
