European Parliament President Roberta Metzola met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stephanchuk, among others, in Ukraine.

Together with Stefanchuk, he laid flowers at a memorial to fallen soldiers.

After Metsola’s meeting with Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian side said that one of the topics discussed was “the peace formula” proposed by Kiev and the prospects of a peace summit with the broad participation of the countries of the global south. In addition, the Ukrainian president assured that he will meet the demands of the European Union.

Metsola, who is from Malta, arrived in the city of Lviv, about 60km from the border with Poland, last Friday night.

The program also includes Metsola’s participation in the “Together for Justice” international conference, which focuses on how Russia could be held accountable for the attack on Ukraine.

Commenting on the conference, Metsola said that without accountability, freedom and justice there can be no peace. “Appeasement never worked,” he said.
