After the horrific train accident in Greece, the European People’s Party (EPP) KO decided not to participate in the mission of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) which starts today, as it notes.

“It is inappropriate and insensitive» report the head of the KO Manfred Weber and the LIBE coordinator Jeroen Lenars.

“The country is in shock. The Greek people mourn a great loss. These are not the conditions to organize an EP mission that could easily be postponed to a later date”, underlines Manfred Weber.

The EPP’s KO asked for the mission to be postponed after the Greek authorities called for it to be reconsidered. “It is extremely disappointing that the left groups are so blind from their dislike for certain governments that ignore the basic level of respect and humanity,” added Jeroen Lenars.

“The only delegation that Parliament should send after this tragedy is to show our respect to the families of the victims and to offer our support to the Greek authorities,” the EPP KO members said.
