The funerals of the two Cypriot students, 23-year-old Kyprianos Papaioannou and 24-year-old Anastasia Adamidou, who died in the train accident in Tempi, were held on Monday at public expense.

On Monday morning, at the Holy Church of Apostles Peter and Paul, in Avgorou, the exodus service was held for Kyprian Papaioannou.

The request of the family of the deceased to those who attended the funeral was to wear white clothes during the exodus.

The Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where Kyprianos Papaioannou was a student, announced that it will propose to the State Scholarship Foundation the establishment of a scholarship in memory of the 23-year-old.

The funeral of Anastasia Adamidis was held on Monday afternoon at the Holy Church of Agioi Anargyros in Paphos.

The request of the family of the deceased was that instead of wreaths, contributions should be made to support the family of a relative with a serious health problem.

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulidis, attended the funerals.

Both families had asked the media to respect their wish that the funeral procession and burial not be covered by the press.
