Six Palestinians were killed this afternoon in an Israeli army raid in Jenin, in the occupied northern West Bank, according to the latest report from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli forces surrounded a house in the camp and fierce clashes ensued with gunmen holed up inside the building, as well as with Palestinian fighters outside it.

These witnesses claimed that Israeli soldiers fired two rockets at the house.

In a terse statement, the Israeli military said only that security forces were conducting an “operation” in the Jenin camp.

The health ministry said a 26-year-old man, Muhammad Wael Ghazawi, was killed when he was shot in the chest. At least five other people were injured by the Israeli fire and the condition of one, who has a wound in the abdomen, is considered serious.
