Two from the four Americans who had disappeared since last Friday in State of Tamaulipas of of Mexicoare alive and the other two dead, announced today the governor of the State, in a communication he had with his president of MexicoAndres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

The four Americans were riding in a white minivan with North Carolina license plates when they drove through Matamoros, Mexico’s Tamaulipas state, on Friday, the US embassy said yesterday, asking for the public’s help in identifying the kidnappers. Gunmen allegedly shot the occupants of the minivan and then put them in another vehicle and fled the area.

American news television network ABC News reported that the four people kidnapped were Latavia “Ty” McGee, Said Woodard, Zidell Brown and Eric James Williams.

A Mexican official told Reuters today that two men were found dead. The woman and another man are alive, safe and in the hands of authorities, the official said.

Tamaulipa Governor Américo Villarreal told López Obrador in their phone call that one of the survivors was injured.

The Mexican president said one person is in custody in connection with the kidnapping.
