Kadir Keifli, owner of a two-and-a-half-year-old Doberman named Sheila, said he asked local rescue groups for help to pull his dog out of the rubble, but no one was able to enter the wreckage. Meyako, an animal rescue group, came to his aid on Monday.

After hours of trying, they managed to reach the basement where Sheila was trapped – and were amazed to see that not only had she survived for almost a month, but that she had also given birth to three puppies. At the rescue site, one of the dog rescuers asked: “What have you been drinking here? what did you eat Did you give birth to these three?’

Seven-year-old Sheela and her puppies were taken to the nearby town of Adana for treatment. The rescuers even noticed that although the mother dog looked thin, she was walking without help. How the dog and her puppies survived and how they were fed remains a mystery.
