The exchange of fire took place where the Shura-Jit dam is located, in an area under Israeli security control, west of Nablus. When contacted by AFP, residents of Soura said they heard gunshots around 3:30 local time (and Greek time). According to Palestinian medical sources, no dead have been brought to the Nablus morgue, which suggests that their bodies are in the possession of the Israeli army.

“Soldiers (…) responded with live fire” and “three gunmen were neutralized”, while a fourth surrendered and is being held for questioning, added the Israeli military, whose spokesman later confirmed to AFP that the three attackers neutralized were Palestinians and that they were killed.
