The Kanakovski court of the Tverskaya region sentenced husband and wife Alexander Martynov and Lyudmila Razumova to 7 years and 6.5 years in prison, respectively, who were accused of spreading “fake news” about the Russian army and “vandalism”, the OVD-info website reported .

The prosecutor asked for a sentence of seven years for each. According to the prosecution’s allegations, Martynov published a post referring to the residents of Mariupol who were killed, in which he called the Russian military ‘scum’, a video saying that Russian soldiers bombed houses in Kherson, and another in which the Russian general Sergei Surovikin is called a ‘war criminal’.

According to the inquest, Martynov’s wife, Razumova, was spreading ‘fake news’ on the social networking site Odnoklasniki, as she made six video posts about Russian military shelling of Ukrainian civilians.

The pair were later charged with “vandalism”. The interrogation announced that Martynov and Razumova painted several graffiti “in the form of a fusion of two people Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Adolf Hitler”, also wrote the phrases “Putler kaput” and “Ukraine forgive us” on the wall of a pastry shop with name “Konfetka”.

However, according to the indictment, they did not cause damage to the shop owner with this act. Among other things, the indictment states that the spouses wrote the phrases: “Peace in Ukraine”, “Putin means war” and others.

The couple were arrested in March 2022. In January 2023, the prosecutor asked for a prison sentence of seven and a half years for each. Human rights activists point out that Razumova earlier admitted her guilt, but later said she did not consider the videos she posted of the deaths of civilians to be ‘fake news’. After these statements, the interrogation resumed.
