In July 2010, the US deported 10 Russian spies it had identified as “illegals” as part of a Russia-US prisoner exchange.

Among them is the young, red-haired beauty “Anna Chapman” (third in the front row), who was arrested on June 27, 2010 and pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government – she gave information every Wednesday to a Russian government official.

From Volgograd to Manhattan, with love

Anna Chapman was born on February 23, 1982 in Volgograd, Russia as Anna Vasilievna Kustchenko and her professional future was almost predetermined as her father, Vasily Kustchenko, was a senior KGB official who worked at the Soviet Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya

Anna completed her economics studies in Russia and in 2002 married a British visual artist, Alex Chapman. She took his last name, acquired British citizenship, moved to London and lived there until 2006, when they divorced.

As a multinational executive, in 2009 he moved to New York and indeed to an ultra-luxurious apartment in a skyscraper near Wall Street.

She was tall (1.70) and impressive and charmed anyone who wanted (and should).

But she managed to “act” for only a few months until her role was revealed.

The “trap” and its capture

Officials alleged that Chapman worked with a network of agents until an undercover FBI agent set a trap for her in a Manhattan coffee shop.

The FBI agent offered Chapman a fake passport, with instructions to pass it on to another spy. He asked, “are you ready for this step?”

Chapman replied “of course.” and took the passport. However, after making a series of phone calls to her father in Moscow, Chapman followed his advice and handed the passport over to a local police station.

He was arrested shortly after.

Additionally, Chapman was one of two illegal Russians arrested who were not using a false name.

After her deportation, Anna returned to Russia as a heroine and became a star!

She sang the Russian national anthem with Putin, became a consultant in a Russian bank, appeared in “patriotic” missions, followed (and continues) a modeling career in Russia and Turkey and became the “favorite” of the media, even posing for covers magazines.

She “sold” her story to American media, made a documentary about her life and is still cashing in on her reputation.

In addition, she has her own clothing and accessories company, acts in series and movies, has tens of thousands of followers on social media and is generally… Anna Chapman.
