The Russian Defense Ministry said a Russian SU-35 fighter jet rose over the Baltic Sea today after two US strategic bombers flew in the direction of the Russian border but then left.

“On March 20, radars of the air defense forces of the Western Military District on duty over the Baltic Sea detected two aerial targets, which were flying in the direction of the state border of the Russian Federation,” the ministry announced on Telegram. According to the statement, the targets were US Air Force B52H strategic bombers.

According to the statement, an SU-35 fighter jet took off to prevent the violation of the border and added “after the foreign military aircraft departed from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter returned to its base.”
