THE anti-terrorist police are investigating after the burning a man as was coming back in his house from a mosque in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police have announced that a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

According to a Sky News report the victim suffered burns to his face after being sprayed with an unknown substance on Shenstone Street in Edgbaston shortly after 7pm on Monday.

Police are also looking into whether the incident is linked to a similar attack in west London, where an 82-year-old man was set on fire outside a mosque.

The Birmingham victim was sprayed with an unknown substance, causing his jacket to catch fire and burns to his face.

The man was then taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
