At least four people were killed early this morning from Russian drone attack near Kiev, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said showed that Moscow was not interested in peace.

The State Emergency Service announced via the Telegram messaging app that two dormitories and an educational facility in Rishchiv, 64 km south of the capital, were partially destroyed during the overnight attack.

Regional police chief Andriy Nebitov said 20 people were taken to hospital and others were still missing after a series of explosions occurred after 3am. (local time and Greece time) and claimed the lives of four people.

Much of the top floor of a five-story dormitory was destroyed in the attack. Workers in white helmets and reflective vests were working through the rubble of another heavily damaged building.

“We see that the enemy attacked civilian infrastructure again and innocent people were killed,” Nebitov wrote on Telegram, adding that one of the victims was an ambulance driver who had arrived to help.

State emergency services officials said the search for survivors was continuing after the attacks, which the Ukrainian armed forces said involved Iraqi-made Shahid drones.

“More than 20 deadly Iranian drones, plus missiles, numerous bombing incidents and this in just one night of Russian terrorism against Ukraine,” Zelensky tweeted.

“Every time someone tries to hear the word ‘peace’ in Moscow, another order is given there for such criminal strikes.”

The Ukrainian armed forces announced that they shot down 16 of the 21 drones launched overnight against Ukraine from the north.

Russia, which invaded Ukraine 13 months ago, had no immediate comment on the latest attacks.
