At least seven people were killed early today in the morning from an attack of Russian drones near Kievfor which the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski stated that it shows that Moscow is not interested in peace.

In a series of early morning drone strikes, six people were killed and 18 hospitalized when two dormitories and an educational facility were hit in Rhyschiv, 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Kiev, regional police chief Andriy Nebitov said.

The attack left a huge hole in the top floor of a five-story dormitory and a pile of debris where part of another building had been, an eyewitness told Reuters.

Hours later, two residential buildings were damaged by a rocket attack in the southeastern city of Zaporizhia. Local officials said one person was killed and 33 were taken to hospital.

The Ukrainian military announced that Russia launched 21 drones in Ukraine overnight, including Iranian-made Shahed drones, and that 16 of them were shot down.

“Over 20 Iranian killer drones, plus missiles, numerous bombing incidents, and this in just one recent night of Russian terrorism against Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

Every time someone tries to hear the word ‘peace’ in Moscow, there is another order for such criminal strikes.”

He described the attack on Zaporizhia as an act of “animalistic ferocity”.

In Rishchiv, rescue teams continue to search the rubble for survivors, as Nebitov said three people were still missing.

“We are concerned that they may be under the debris, so work to separate the debris is proceeding very carefully,” he said. “The majority of people (in the dormitories) were saved because … they were in the shelters.”

He said there were several explosions after 3 a.m. and the dead include an ambulance driver who had arrived at the scene.

Air Force spokesman Yuri Ikhnat said Russia probably carried out the Zaporizhia attack with high-speed missiles fired from the Tornado-S multiple launch missile system.

“From the launch to the target takes seconds”he said.
