They were accompanied by thousands of singers in 80 places in Europe and Latin America, a thousand Ukrainian singers added their voices to those of choirs from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, Germany, Portugal and Venezuela.

In Madrid, the choir sang “Dona Nobis Pacem” (Grant us peace), the “Slave Chorus” from Verdi’s opera Nabucco and ended with “Sing an Anthem For Our Peace”, us), written for the occasion by the American composer Jim Papoulis.

The event, which was broadcast live on YouTube, was organized by Choirs for Peace, an initiative born in Spain a month after the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
