Earlier this month, Riyadh and Tehran agreed — brokered by Beijing — to restore diplomatic ties after years of open hostility that threatened stability and security in the Gulf and escalated conflicts in the Middle East region, from Yemen to Syria.
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Iran, respectively Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud and Hussein Amirabdollahian, have agreed to meet during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Saudi state news agency SPA reported early today.
The two ministers spoke by phone for the second time in a few days, the agency noted. Their previous conversation took place last Wednesday.
“During the dialogue, a number of issues of common interest were discussed in light of the tripartite agreement signed in the People’s Republic of China. The two ministers agreed to have a bilateral meeting during the ongoing month of Ramadan,” according to SPA.
