A passenger on a plane in Los Angeles opened the emergency exit while the plane was taxiing and was in the process of taking off.

The incident occurred on a domestic Delta flight from Los Angeles to Seattle.

While the doors were closed, the passengers were counted and the plane was moving down the runway, the man – for an as yet unknown reason – got up and ran towards the emergency exit.

Panic set in and flight attendants and cabin crew tried to stop him. However, the passenger managed to open the door with the inflatable “slide” and from there got out of the plane.

Airport security immediately arrested him and the man was taken to a psychiatric clinic.

This is the latest incident of… terror on a US flight: not long ago a United passenger threatened mass murder, tried to kill a flight attendant and tried to open an emergency exit in flight.
