Off the list of Labor Party parliamentary candidates in Britain was asked after 40 years the former leader of the party Jeremy Corbyn.

The party’s National Executive has voted 22 to 12 to approve a motion by current Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer to bar his predecessor from standing for the leadership again.

Left-leaning 73-year-old Jeremy Corbyn has been elected MP for the Islington North constituency in north London continuously since 1983 with the Labor party.

In October 2020, however, his membership of the party’s caucus was suspended due to his unwillingness to fully accept the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s critical findings regarding the tolerance of anti-Semitism within Labor during his own term. of leadership, from September 2015 to April 2020.

In a statement commenting on Mr Starmer’s motion to the party body, Jeremy Corbyn accused him of breaching a pledge to respect Labor members and “tarnishing the democratic foundations of our party”.

In a message to his supporters, Mr Corbyn said “we’re not going anywhere”, a phrase widely seen as an intention to stand as an independent candidate against the Labor candidate at the next general election.
