Armed attack against her Good Party Meral Aksener in Istanbul was noted a little while ago, “setting fire” in the Turkish elections. An unknown person shot into the window of the political office of the opposition party. There were no injuries from the attack, according to SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis.

A large number of police reached the spot after being alerted by those inside the party building. The assailant fled while the police launched an investigation.

“The man who would terrify Meral Aksener was not born from his mother’s womb. If I fear anyone but God, God curse me. I’m not afraid, Mr. Redzep! You are the president. You are responsible for protecting the honor, dignity and safety of all” Aksener commented when she arrived at her party’s offices in Polis.

It is noted that the president of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, had threatened the president of the Good Party, as she was the one who revealed the case with the foundation ceremony of a hospital… miniature. Their reaction was fierce, as reported by Manolis Kostidis.

“Mind my name. My name is Tayyip and my last name is Erdogan. Take care and the name Tayyip and the name Erdogan!» was the threat.

The mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglou condemned the armed attack in a statement on Twitter. Conveying his best wishes to the party members, he also underlined his expectation that the perpetrators will be brought to justice as soon as possible.

Former Foreign Minister (2009 – 2014), former Prime Minister (2014 – 2016) and current leader of the opposition Gelecec party, Ahmet Davutoglu, also condemned the attack, noting among other things that “they will not frighten us… Those who want to cause unrest in our country with their dark hands will never achieve their goals.”
