Chest to chest combat former prime minister Boyko Borisov’s center-right GERB-SDS alliance and former prime minister Kirill Petkov’s pro-European and pro-business conservative PP-DB bloc are giving, according to the first exit polls published as polling stations close in today’s parliamentary elections Bulgaria.

For the fifth time in two years – a record in the EU -, voters in Bulgaria, e.gthey went to the polls to elect their new parliament, against the background of the political impasse and the split over Sofia’s support in Ukraine, where the war that broke out when Russia’s military invaded in February 2022 continues to rage.

GERB-SDS and PP-DB extract percentages 25% to 26% each, according to exit polls.

If these percentages are confirmed with the official election results, then it appears a new puzzle for the formation of a stable government.

Today’s elections were called because no party was able to form a government after the previous ones, which were held just six months ago.
