What sources close to Silvio Berlusconi told the ANSA agency
The news about him is encouraging Silvio Berlusconi, at least according to sources close to the former prime minister. The Italian tycoon is responding positively to treatment and the leukemia he is dealing with is treatable, sources close to Mr. Berlosconi say.
Silvio Berlusconi’s condition “records an encouraging improvement today compared to yesterday. Although the situation requires the utmost attention, the former prime minister is reportedly reacting positively to the antibiotic treatment decided upon for the pneumonia that has appeared in recent days.”
The form of chronic leukemia from which Mr. Berlusconi has been suffering for some time – as reported by the same sources – is not rare for people of his age (86 years old) and is usually treated with minimally invasive treatments, allowing an almost normal life quality of life.
The medical bulletin
A medical announcement issued earlier, however, states that Silvio Berlusconi “suffers for a long time from a chronic hematological disease, and more specifically from chronic myelomonocytic leukemia”. It is added that at this stage the patient “has been admitted to the intensive care unit due to a lung infection”.
The communiqué is signed by professors Alberto Zangrillo, who is also Cavaliere’s personal doctor, and Fabio Ciccheri.
At the same time, the announcement emphasizes that the treatment that has begun provides for the treatment of the pulmonary infection by limiting the pathological overproduction of white blood cells and returning to the previous state.
