The creepy experience of being watched was described to her followers on Instagram by 26-year-old Brooke Neider, a model in New York, who came to the horrible realization that a stranger had placed a tracking device in her pocket.
As she describes, the incident happened last Wednesday when the 26-year-old had gone out at night to have fun and received a notification from her mobile phone that an unknown device had been connected to it and was moving with it.
It was an AirTag device – a tiny nickel machine that was first released last April and is used to find keys, with its users being able to attach it to their personal belongings to make sure they will never be lost.
However, there have been many reports that this gadget, which has a sale price of up to about thirty euros, has been exploited by stalkers and thieves who put it in other people’s bags, cars and pockets to track their whereabouts.
In fact, the AirTag, as the 26-year-old reports, had stayed on for at least five hours.
