After the Taliban government banned women from attending universities, another dark decision comes to add to the restrictions it places against the female gender.

The Taliban have banned families and women from dining outdoors at restaurants in the northwestern provincial city of Herat in Afghanistan, according to the Daily Mail.

In particular, an official pointed out that women and families will not have access to restaurants with gardens and green spaces in order to avoid mixing women and men in the same space. In contrast, men face no restrictions.

“It only applies to restaurants with green spaces, such as a park, where men and women could meet, said Baz Mohammad Nazir, deputy official from the Ministry of Reciprocity and Virtue’s directorate in Herat. Shopkeepers who did not follow this tactic eventually saw their shops close, Nazir added.
