MeMoo blew it out of the farm by mobilizing the local police
The attempt by police officers in the US to “arrest” an ostrich that escaped from the farm where it lives has gone viral.
According to the New York Post, MeeMoo as her name is belongs to the emu species, a sub-species of ostriches.
The owner of the farm, Harry McKinney, explains that the reason for the ostrich’s escape was the workers who were working at his house. The animal got scared and jumped out of the protected enclosure and ran away. The owner initially tried to hunt it down on his own, but soon lost sight of the animal known for its speed.
Harry reported MeeMoo’s disappearance on social media and quickly began receiving messages about the bird’s last sighting. He relayed the messages to the Harriman Police Department (the area where he lives), with police embarking on a strange pursuit that was quickly picked up by residents. The patrol cars chased MeeMoo for 20 miles. After a lot of effort they finally succeeded and caught him.
“We were terrified that he was going to get hit by a car and that someone might hit him with a tranquilizer dart, that he might injure himself during the chase,” McKinney said.
The operation was successful and MeeMoo returned to the farm.
