Real Brilliant in Smyrna, the historical capital of Asia Minor. The Resurrection, the Resurrection Divine Liturgy and the Vespers of this year’s Easter took place in the full of people, new for the Orthodox Christian Metropolis of Smyrna, the church of Panagia. It is about the historical church of Panagia (Santa Maria) in Konak. In historic Konaki near the Smyrnia waterfront.

It is noted that the church of Panagia will be the headquarters now of the Diocese of Smyrna as a few days ago, after the permission of Pope Francis, it was granted to the Ecumenical Patriarchate by the Roman Catholic Order of the Franciscans for the needs of the Diocese of Smyrna.

The Diocese of Smyrna currently has, apart from the Church of the Virgin Mary, a small church, dedicated to Saint Fotini, granted in 1955 by the Dutch Community of Smyrna to the then very small Orthodox Christian community of the city.

Also, at the request of the Community, it also operates from time to time Church of Agios Vukolos, which is the only orthodox church that was saved from the 1922 disaster and which was restored and functions as a cultural center.
