Security staff at Berlin’s international airport are being called to strike the day after tomorrow, Monday, for better wages, the Verdi union announced today.
“We must expect longer waiting times and even flight cancellations” because of this strike, which will last throughout Monday, the union warned in a statement.
Verdi had already organized a strike the day before yesterday, Thursday, and yesterday, Friday, of staff at German airports, including those of Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe.
The union recalls that it has been “negotiating for years with the German Air Safety Business Federation (BDLS) for increases in premiums for night work, as well as work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and for better overtime pay.” .
