THE Pope Francis today called for a “dialogue” to settle the “serious” situation in Sudanwhere deadly fighting between the army and paramilitaries has been raging for more than a week.
“Unfortunately, the situation remains serious in Sudan, which is why I renew my appeal for the violence to stop as soon as possible and for the path of dialogue to be followed,” the pontiff said during Sunday’s traditional public prayer in St. Peter’s Square.
“I call on the whole world to pray for our brothers and sisters in Sudan,” he added.
Since April 15, the two generals, in power after the 2021 coup, have launched a merciless war in Sudan.
