Two explosions rocked an office of the Counter-Terrorism Service in northwest Pakistan’s Swat Valley today, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens.

“Two bombs exploded,” Ataullah Khan, a police official, told AFP, adding that the building collapsed.

Rescuers have rushed to the scene, who are looking for those trapped in the ruins.

According to Reuters, the head of the local police directorate, Akhtar Hayat, said it was not yet clear what caused the explosions at the Counter-Terrorism office in Swat. There was ammunition storage in the office, he noted, and authorities have so far not ruled out the possibility of an accident.

The victims are mainly members of the security forces, who were in the building when the explosions occurred.

The provisional tally reported by the Dawn newspaper is at least eight dead and 57 injured.
