In Larnaca landed the first aircraft to carry Britons nationals from Sudan.
On this flight 39 rescued civilians were on boardfrom infants to people over 70, as priority is given to families with children, the elderly and people with health problems.
The other two flights expected overnight will carry a total of around 220 rescued civilians, according to the BBC.
Speaking in the House of Commons late on Tuesday afternoon, Under Secretary of State Andrew Mitchell had called on Britons who want to leave Khartoum to go to the airport north of the Sudanese capital from where the evacuation operation is being carried out until 8pm local time.
There are also members of the British armed forces and officials from the Foreign and Home Offices who carry out identity checks on those arriving with a view to departure.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak he said the next 24 hours were “absolutely critical” as there was concern over how long the truce would last.
