The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, will meet this afternoon in Brussels as part of the dialogue held under the auspices of the European Union. The meeting will be moderated by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borel, and the EU Special Envoy for Kosovo, Miroslav Lajčak. This meeting is the first high-level meeting held after the Ohrid summit where, on March 18, the implementation of the European plan for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina was agreed.

Talks in Brussels today will focus on establishing the Union of Serbian Municipalities, an obligation Kosovo undertook in 2013 but has yet to fulfill. The full implementation of what was agreed since 2013 is a condition for starting the process for the implementation of the European plan for the normalization of relations.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti will present his government’s plan for the establishment of the Union of Serbian Municipalities today.

In Belgrade, caution is expressed about the intentions of the prime minister of Kosovo.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic expressed the opinion that Albin Kurti does not intend to allow the establishment of the Union of Serbian Municipalities and estimated that he will present such a plan that Belgrade will be forced to reject.

At today’s meeting, it is expected that the issue of missing war missing persons will also be discussed and a joint declaration will be adopted, with which the two sides will commit to cooperate in order to ascertain their fate.
