Texas authorities have arrested several people believed to have helped a man suspected of the murder of five of his neighbors, to be hidden for four dayswhile the police launched a manhunt to locate him.

The carnage occurred last Friday in Cleveland, Texas, when 38-year-old Francisco Oropesa’s neighbors asked him to stop shooting his semi-automatic rifle in his yard because they couldn’t put their baby to sleep. He, in response, reloaded the gun, entered his neighbors’ house and killed five people – among the victims was an 8-year-old boy.

Oropesa was arrested on Tuesday.

At a news conference today, San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Keen said other arrests have been made, but did not elaborate on the role those suspects played in the crime. “Whoever helped this maniac definitely faces some issues, to my knowledge,” Keane said.

Local, state and federal police had been searching for the 38-year-old for four days. It was finally found Tuesday inside a closet, under unwashed clothes, at a home in Cut and Shute, in neighboring Montgomery County. This city is about 27 kilometers from Cleveland. He will be arraigned later today and is expected to be held on $5 million bail.

Sheriff Greg Capers said Tuesday that the person who provided authorities with the information leading to Oropesa’s arrest is eligible for an $80,000 reward.

Most of the victims were shot in the head. All were from Honduras. A total of 10 people lived in the house where Oropesa opened fire, but not all of them were related to each other.

The arrested person has been a Mexican national since 2009 he has been deported four times from the USA.
