Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenky is in The Hague, Netherlands today to meet with officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is investigating possible war crimes committed by the Russian military in Ukraine and has issued an arrest warrant for the Russian president. “We are in The Hague, we will meet here with ICC officials,” Zelensky’s spokesman Serhii Nikiforov told AFP.

As reported by the Dutch agency ANP, Zelensky, who is making his first visit to the Netherlands, landed yesterday Wednesday at the Amsterdam-Schiphol airport, after participating in a meeting of the Nordic countries in Helsinki.

The Ukrainian president arrived in Amsterdam on a Dutch government plane and traveled by road to The Hague under tight security.

According to the state broadcaster NOS, in addition to his meeting with ICC officials, Zelensky is to deliver a speech today from The Hague entitled: “No peace without justice for Ukraine.”

A meeting with Dutch parliamentarians and a conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte are also scheduled, ANP reported.

The Netherlands has been supporting Ukraine since Russia invaded in February 2022. The country announced in April that it would buy 14 Leopard 2 tanks with Denmark, worth 165 million euros, to offer to Kiev. So far it has given Ukraine about 1.2 billion euros in military aid.
