At least 21 Russian cities will not hold parades on May 9 in honor of the anniversary of the Victory against German fascism, according to the calculations of the website Verstka.

After yesterday’s and today’s drone attacks on the Kremlin and other cities, the authorities of the cities of Kaluga, Ryazan, Oryol, Saratov, the city of Gusev in the Kaliningrad region and the cities of Lipetsk, Yeltsin and Tyumen they canceled “for security reasons” the parades of May 9.

There will also be no parades in the cities of Pskov and Velikiye Luki. According to Governor Mikhail Bedernikov, many military personnel arrive in the region for rehabilitation, who “perceive the sounds of fireworks completely differently” from others, while the funds can be allocated instead of fireworks, “for the most necessary things that are needed by those who participate in the special military operation”

In the city of Kursk the authorities “taking into account the current situation” decided not to hold the parade, while in Belgorod “so as not to provoke the enemy by gathering a large number of military weapons and soldiers”. The website Vertka points out that the authorities of the Krasnodar region have not officially announced the cancellation of the parades in Krasnodar and Sochi, but said that this year the army’s weapons will be seen only in Novorossiysk. The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that this year the authorities will not be able to “hold a celebration as they would like.”

Also, festive events will not be held even in cities far from the front such as Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut and Hadi-Mansiysk. The mayors of the cities in question say they want to express “their solidarity with the other regions of the country”.

Parades will also not be held in the Crimean cities of Kerch, Simferopol and Sevastopol.
