Air-raid sirens sounded a while ago in Kiev, while the Reuters agency reports that explosions and shots were heard in a district of the Ukrainian capital.

Residents of the Ukrainian capital told Reuters that explosions and sporadic gunfire were heard near the center of Kiev. Some even reported that, while rushing to shelters, they saw drones in the sky of the Ukrainian capital.

An AFP journalist also saw a drone that Ukrainian air defenses were trying to shoot down.

The downing of an “enemy drone” in Kiev was announced tonight by Andrii Yermak, President Zelensky’s chief of staff, and the head of the city’s military administration, Serhiy Popko, shortly after air raid sirens sounded in the Ukrainian capital and there were reports of explosions and sporadic gunfire.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said in a Telegram post that debris from the drone was scattered in the Solomiansky district (west). Firefighters have rushed to the scene to put out a fire that broke out in a four-story building, he added.

So far there are no reports of casualties or injuries.
