Visitors to the Greek stand tried traditional products and saw traditional dances
European institutions on Saturday welcomed those who wanted to know more about what the EU stands for on the occasion of Europe Day celebrations on Tuesday 9 May
At the premises of the European Council, the 27 member states offered a taste of their traditions, but also information about the country and its history.
Visitors to the Greek stand had the opportunity to test their general knowledge of Greece by participating in an interactive test, prepared in collaboration with Study in Greece. They also had the opportunity to download their first Greek language course free of charge, as well as information on studying in Greece, from the Study in Greece portal.
At the same time, those who found themselves in the Greek corner tried traditional products, offered by Greek companies operating in Brussels, in collaboration with the Office of Commercial and Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Belgium, while informational material of the EOT and individual regions was distributed for a large number of Greek destinations .
Afterwards, the Greek High School of Brussels danced traditional dances bringing the visitors closer to Greek music.
The Permanent Representative of Greece to the EU, Ioannis Vrailas noted that “on the occasion of Europe Day, every year the European institutions open their doors, welcome the world and it is something that should perhaps be done more often to show that the EU listens to citizens’ problems and concerns, stands by them, faces challenges together. I hope there is a possibility to do this more often. An amazing job has been done at the Greek stand. Anyone who sees it will be very proud comparing it to the other stands in other Member States and I wanted to thank all the contributors to this very successful effort.”
Finally, Ukraine was at the center of the Swedish Presidency. Ambassador Tobjørn Haak, Deputy Head of the Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU, called on the Ambassador of Ukraine to the EU, Vsevolod Chentsov and they addressed a joint greeting.
