USA: Seven years in prison for American neo-Nazi for threatening campaign

The former head of a small American neo-Nazi organization, the self-proclaimed “Atomwaffen Division”, was sentenced yesterday Tuesday to serve seven years in prison for participating in a campaign to intimidate journalists and anti-racism activists.

Caleb Cole, 25, and three other members of the organization made posters depicting Nazi symbols and Molotov cocktails, which were then sent in January 2020 to the homes of several reporters, often of Jewish or minority background, as well as anti-Semitic in a statement from the US Department of Justice.

During his trial in a Seattle federal court in the fall, victims described the aftermath of the intimidation campaign: some were forced to move temporarily, others set up alarms, one bought a gun, some chose to change jobs – quit journalism the Ministry.

Caleb Cole’s three accomplices preferred to make deals with prosecutors, pleading guilty to securing more lenient sentences.

A fifth member of the Atomwaffen Division, John Denton, was sentenced in May to three years and five months in prison after pleading guilty to “threats” and “insults”.

In particular, he had participated in a “swatting” campaign, ie malicious telephone calls aimed at sending special forces units (SWAT) to intervene at the target addresses.
