Free on parole and without electronic bracelet monitoring were left today by the Belgian MEP Mark Tarabella and Francesco Giorgithe partner of the former vice-president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, who are accused of the corruption case in the European Parliament by Qatar and Morocco.

The conditional release of the two defendants was announced by the Brussels federal prosecutor’s office, according to the Belgian press. The Belgian prosecutor’s office points out that “preventive detention” of M. Tarabella and F. Giorgi, who no longer need to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and will be able to move freely, is “no longer justified”. Their conditional release was decided by the investigator Michel Clez and the federal prosecutor’s office approved this decision.

The mastermind of the case, Pier Antonio Panzeri, and the former vice-president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, are still under house arrest and under electronic surveillance since April 14.
