Police initially arrested the 16-year-old, but when it became known that the person who threw the rock at the bus was a 16-year-old boy, Kilicdaroglu asked to be released
A 16 year old throw a stone in the campaign bus of the candidate for the Turkish presidency Kemal Kilicdaroglu who was at a pre-election rally in the northwestern province of Sakaria.
The police arrested the child who threw the stone breaking the window of the bus.
After it became known that the person who threw the stone at the bus was a 16-year-old boy, Kilicdaroglu asked to be released.
In a statement, the CHP said that Kilicdaroglu called CHP MP Engin Özkoç and said: “Let the identity of our son not be revealed in any way and legal support should be given to the family. This child is a son of Turkey. Elections are temporary, our most important issue is not to hurt the child. The main issue is not the act done by the child, but those who use a child for such a challenge.”
The incident comes after a group of ultra-nationalists threw stones at the election bus of CHP Istanbul Mayor and Vice President Ekrem Imamoglu while he was addressing citizens during a rally in the eastern province of Erzurum on May 7.
Officials of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accused the Mayor of Istanbul of instigating the attack against him.
