The military object found in April in a Polish forest was a Russian CH-55 missile, private Polish media RMF FM and Polsat News reported today, citing unnamed sources.

The Polish authorities announced in April that a “military object” was found in a forest near the village of Zamosnear the northern city of Bydgoszcz, without going into details about its origin.

The area where the object was found is hundreds of kilometers from Poland’s borders with Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

Private radio station RMF FM reported today, without naming its sources, that according to the preliminary findings of the Institute of Technology of the Polish Air Force, the object is a CH-55 missile, something the station had supported when the incident happened.

A Polish government spokesman and the Air Force Institute of Technology could not immediately be reached for comment.
