“Happy birthday Madeline. We love you and we are waiting for you. We are never going to give up,” her parents wrote today Madeline McCann on the official Find Madelein Campaign Facebook page, marking the 20th anniversary of their daughter’s birth.

Kate and Jerry McCann wrote “Happy Birthday Madeline. You are still being ignored. We still miss you so much. We are still looking for you. For as long as it takes’ and posted a photo of the three-year-old girl in a pink hat, smiling and holding tennis balls.

According to the Daily Mail, the McCanns “will remember their daughter “quietly” during a small celebration at home with their 18-year-old twin children Sean and Amelie.”

Little Madeleine disappeared on the night of May 3, 2007, aged 3, from her bed in Praia da Luz, a resort in Portugal’s Algarve region, sparking what one newspaper called the most high-profile disappearance case in modern history.

In 2020, the German Prosecutor’s Office announced that she was presumed dead and identified a German national – 45-year-old Christian Brickner – as responsible for her disappearance.

However, to this day the girl’s body has not been found and Madeline is considered missing.

Her fate remains unknown.
