The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived on the night of Saturday to Sunday at the military airport in Berlin.

He announced his arrival via Twitter: “Already in Berlin. Arms. Powerful package. Air defense. Reconstruction. EU. NATO. Security”.

The Ukrainian president is expected to meet with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Solz.

In the evening he is expected to receive, on behalf of the Ukrainian people, the “Charlemagne” award in Aachen – possibly in person.

The schedule of Mr. Zelensky’s first visit to Germany since February 2022 has not yet been officially announced. For the safety of the shipment, the strictest possible security measures are taken.

Last night, the German Foreign Ministry announced via Twitter that Germany is preparing the largest ever support package for Ukraine: it includes ammunition, air defense systems, tanks and military engineering support worth more than 2.7 billion euros.

He spoke of 18 self-propelled guns, 4 IRIS systems, 12 IRIS-T SLS anti-aircraft missile launchers and missiles, ammunition, 30 Leopard 1 A5 heavy tanks, 20 Marder armored fighting vehicles (AMG) and more than 100 other types of armored vehicles. “We stand firmly on the side of Ukraine which is defending itself against the Russian aggression,” the German Foreign Ministry said in its post.
