Bad weather continues to hit the regions Marche and Emilia Romagnawith Bologna and Ancona as capitals.

About a thousand residents left their homes for precautionary reasons with the help of the fire department and the Civil Protection service. In the city of Cesena, the river Savio overflowed, and many people climbed onto the roofs of the houses because of the flood, while the carabinieri helped dozens of elderly people away from the ground floors where they live.

The mayors of the areas affected by the bad weather asked the residents not to move from their homes until the weather conditions improve. According to the weather forecast, the heavy rains are going to continue until tomorrow Wednesday night.

Schools will also remain closed tomorrow in dozens of cities in Emilia Romagna and the Marche region. Most rail and road links have been disrupted, and the alert will remain in the red for at least another 24 hours.
