Operations in a dam area in Portugal as part of investigations into her disappearance were completed on Thursday Madeline McCannafter three days.

According to local reports, relayed by British media, the head of Portuguese investigations, Helena Monteiro, left the area in the afternoon, as did vehicles carrying the specially trained dogs and excavators used on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The survey participants were also seen picking up the white tents that had been set up at the survey sites, on land with wild low vegetation on the banks of the man-made lake at Arante Dam.

The area is about 30 kilometers from the resort of Praia da Luz, where the then four-year-old British girl disappeared in May 2007.

The searches in the area of the dam are linked to the main suspect in the case, Christian Brickner, a prisoner in another case in German prisons, against whom, however, no charges have been filed.
